Hello, I’m Merrill Jacobs — a photographer and digital artist based in the UK.
My creative journey began with a deep fascination for the quiet spaces between things: the way light filters through woodland canopies, the hush of a still lake at dawn, and the intricate textures of moss, bark, and stone that speak to nature’s patience and resilience.
I’m endlessly drawn to the Lake District, where shifting light, mist, and weather create a living canvas that is never the same twice. My photography focuses on landscapes, forests, and coastal environments, capturing not only what they look like, but what they feel like — the emotion, the energy, and the sense of timelessness that nature holds. Each image is both documentation and meditation, a reflection of my ongoing dialogue with the land.

“My work bridges the real and the reimagined — turning images into visual poetry through the art of digital storytelling.”
Creative Philosophy
For me, photography is an act of stillness. It’s about pausing long enough to see beyond the surface — to find meaning in a patch of light, a fallen branch, or the echo of footsteps on damp earth. I believe that art rooted in nature helps us reconnect with something fundamental and restorative.
My process often begins with long walks, allowing the landscape to reveal itself gradually. I work with natural light and minimal interference, striving to preserve authenticity while emphasising the poetry of form and texture. Every photograph is a collaboration between environment, mood, and imagination.
Digital Art Collections
Alongside my landscape work, I create digital art collections that extend my fascination with storytelling and transformation.
PetFlicks
a playful, character-driven series celebrating the individuality of animals. Each piece reimagines personality and movement through vibrant colours, texture, and motion, bringing digital life to the familiar charm of pets.
Oxford Reimagined
A conceptual collection merging the architectural grandeur of Oxford with modern digital artistry. These works explore how tradition meets innovation, layering historic motifs with contemporary visual language to create an atmosphere that feels both timeless and futuristic.
Both projects share the same goal: to take something deeply known — a place, a subject, a moment — and view it through a new, imaginative lens.
Inspiration & Approach
Nature is my greatest collaborator. My approach is intuitive and patient, often involving multiple visits to the same site across seasons to observe subtle changes in light and mood. I’m inspired by the textures of the earth — moss, stone, water, and bark — and how they tell quiet stories of endurance and renewal.
Equally, I’m influenced by the dialogue between the natural and the digital — how technology allows us to reimagine beauty without losing its essence. My goal is to create harmony between those worlds, using digital tools to extend rather than replace the authenticity of lived experience.
Thank you for visiting and taking the time to explore my work. I hope these photographs and digital collections inspire you to pause, reflect, and rediscover the intricate beauty that surrounds us every day.
If you’d like to connect, collaborate, or simply share your thoughts, please reach out — I love hearing from people who find meaning in the still moments that nature offers.
